Project Brief

The districts in Assam (Kamrup and Goalpara) and Meghalaya(Ri-Bhoi) experiences high number of floods and droughts, resulting in a vulnerable eco-system, caused extensive soil erosion, reduced the land's capacity to rejuvenate, and negatively impacted natural vegetation and water resources. The well-being of the tribal community in the area, who rely on agriculture and forest for their livelihood, has been severely jeopardized by the destruction of forests and natural calamities.

With the project intervention, we aim to restore more than 8800 hectares of homestead lands through plantation of forest and fruit tree species. Also, improving the quality of soil by use of organic compost and recycling of biomass.Combining sericulture with the plantation of Arjun and Asana trees, the project is providing a sustainable income earning opportunity.
